This past fall I was working on a wreath for our door, and I noticed something was missing. I needed something extra to complete the look I was going for. I thought about all the things we see during fall- orange leaves, crunchy pine cones, big acorns! Acorns! That’s what I needed for my wreath. I remembered that, as Elliot and I were walking at the park a few weeks before, he picked up this huge, beautiful acorn! Probably the biggest one I had seen. Those are the ones I needed! So this morning, Lydia and I set out to find our treasure and hopefully bring home big, over-sized acorns. I went towards the trees I knew or thought I knew would have the ones I was looking for. To my surprise and disappointment, Lydia and I could not find them! We were looking everywhere on the ground but could only find the ones that squirrels or other creatures had already gotten to. I started collecting the ones I believed were the best- ones that if I put the cracked side down to where no one would see it, it would still be fine for my wreath. But in doing that, I was still collecting very little, when I heard in my spirit, “Look up!” I was at a tree that didn’t look very old, and it didn’t look very established. How could this smaller tree produce those big acorns that I wanted? But I looked up! And there they were in plenty hanging there just for me! Bundles of large, fresh acorns; untouched and unblemished! God provides for us like this! He doesn’t want us to look for and settle for scraps that have fallen on the ground; that have already been picked through. He wants us to expect the best and look up for it! He will provide what we need, and it will be fresh and new! As a mom, I find that one of the common things I ask the Lord for is simply, HELP. Sometimes, it’s even asking in desperation! Momming can be a brain teaser for sure. There are some situations that come up where I truly don’t know what to do, so I ask Him to help me; to give me what I need to figure it all out, and He has never failed me. Sometimes the help I need comes from the unexpected, and in ways that I would not have planned or thought of. I think that’s the beauty of looking up and trusting that God will give you exactly what you need. So here are a few take aways I learned from this situation that I think will be helpful to you when you have come to end of your knowledge and really need God to take over. 1- Stop looking for what you need in the scraps that have already been picked through. Matt. 7:11- God gives His children good things if we simply ask. Luke 12:24- We are much worthier than the birds of the air, and God takes great care for them. Wouldn't He do the same for us and more? 2- Expect the best from God. He wants to give it to you! Ps. 84:11-12- God supplies us with favor and those who trust in Him are happy. 3- Know and realize that what you need may come from unexpected sources. Phil. 4:19- God will provide according to HIS riches in glory. 4- Stop looking down, but look up! God’s blessings are there and ready for you. James 1:17- every good and perfect gift is from above. When you are in need of something, whether it be help with your little ones or a new job, God has the answers you are looking for. Don't settle for the scraps! Look up, and allow Him to provide for you. I would love to hear about the different ways God has provided for you. Share below! And don't forget- Momming is hard, but we don't have to do it alone!!

What an awesome epiphany, and word!!! Thank you so much for this reminder! Sometimes I can be such a control freak, refusing to let go and let God...but how amazing would it be if we went to Father for everything! simply allowing ourselves to relax in the truth that we can completely depend on Him for it all. To live without fear or worry, knowing that our Daddy has taken care of everything we need. I truly hope to live so victoriously one day! Thanks girl for letting God use you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Author- Marianne L. JohnsonThis is a blog about my journey and adventure of being a mom. Let's be honest! Motherhood is nothing but an adventure. Some days you roll with the punches while other days unfold to be little specks of perfection. With whatever kind of day I get presented with, I always find God's glory, grace and blessings. Archives
